Please note: phone calls to and from us may be monitored or recorded for training and quality purposes.
Bookings
A booking made via our website, online system, phone, email, or in person, and accepted (verbally or by email) by Mendez Marine, forms the basis of a contract.
Bookings are only confirmed once payment has been received:

Please note: Deposits are non-refundable. If full fees are not paid by the due date, your place may be resold and your deposit forfeited.
Cancellations by Customer
Cancelling before the Full Fees Due Date: deposit forfeited only.
Cancelling on or after the Full Fees Due Date: full fees payable.
If you received a package, bulk-buy, or discounted rate and cancel part of it, any discount will be removed before any refund is calculated.
Booking without meeting pre-requisites or legal requirements (e.g. visa, qualifications) does not change these cancellation terms.
Postponements by Customer
You may postpone your course (to a date within 9 months) by paying a rebooking fee.
Postponement requests must be made by email to info@mendezmarine.co.uk. Social media or other channels are not accepted.
Notice period is based on full 24-hour days before the course start time.
Rebooking fees are a percentage of the current list price (discounts or special offers do not apply).
Cancellations & Programme Changes by Mendez Marine
We may cancel a booking at any time. If so, we will offer:
Alternative dates, or
A full refund of course fees paid.
We are not liable for other costs (e.g. travel, accommodation) — please ensure you book refundable arrangements or take out insurance.
If a course is cancelled/postponed due to force major (e.g. extreme weather, strikes, pandemic, emergencies), we will offer alternative dates within a reasonable timeframe.
Agency Sales
If we sell a course/product on behalf of another provider, your contract is with that provider under their terms. (Examples: some STCW, RYA Sailing, RYA PWC, and certain online courses).
Medical & Safety
Practical courses require participants to be in good physical health. If in doubt, consult your GP.
By booking, you accept that boating carries inherent risks. Participation is your decision.
You must inform your instructor if you are taking medication.
On safety matters, the instructor’s decision is final.
Non-swimmers must notify their instructor at the start of any Sea Survival course.
Lifejackets
Certification & External Fees
Certificates are awarded at the discretion of the instructor and Principal. Passing is not guaranteed.
Most certification fees are included, but external exam/licence fees are extra.
Some certificates are issued as PDF by email (e.g. First Aid courses).
100% attendance is required for certification.
Lost Certificates:
RYA Navigation – £50
Other RYA Certificates – £25
Mendez Marine Certificates – Free (digital) / £5 (paper copy)

General
Courses are delivered in English.
We are not responsible for loss/damage to personal possessions.
Minimum age requirements are listed on course pages. Under 18s require parental/guardian consent.
Online Courses
RYA PPR, SRC, Safe & Fun, CEVNI: via RYA Interactive, with support from our instructors.
Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Shorebased, Yachtmaster Ocean: via Sailing Courses Online (support provided by them).
delivery by Post
UK orders: normally shipped within 1 working day, delivery in up to 2 further days.
Overseas: additional postage fees, longer delivery times.
Own Boat Tuition
Your vessel must be fully insured, with insurer notified that a training instructor/skipper from Mendez Marine will be onboard.
You remain the skipper during own boat tuition.
Owner is responsible for:
Instructor’s meals
All mooring, fuel, and vessel costs
Return travel expenses (from Hamble, UK, to the vessel)
We reserve the right to cancel without refund if the boat is considered unsafe/unseaworthy.
Photography
We may take photos/video during courses for marketing, educational, and social media use.
If you do not wish to be included, please let us know in advance or inform your instructor.
Complaints
Speak with your instructor/staff member during the course.
If unresolved, write to The Principal (marked “Private & Confidential”) within 2 weeks, including evidence. We will respond within 28 days.
If still unsatisfied, you may escalate to the awarding body (after completing stages 1 & 2).
Discipline
We reserve the right to terminate your course without refund if your behaviour is unacceptable. If your course was employer-funded, they may be notified.
Data & Privacy
By enquiring or booking, you consent to us storing your details (per UK law) and contacting you with updates/offers. You may opt out at any time by email. We do not sell your data.
