This RYA First Aid one-day course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.
In a medical emergency a little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This one-day course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support skippers. Where time allows some of the instruction will take place on a rib so you can experience managing emergencies in confined spaces.
You must have an in-date RYA First Aid Certificate for certain other RYA qualifications i.e. RYA Yachtmaster and MCA endorsements such as
The course is recommended by the MCA and HSE for professional skippers of small craft working within 60 miles of a safe haven, including Boatmaster.
Courses with up to 4 students will be held in the Mendez Marine Classroom. Courses with 5 – 12 students will be held in conjunction with the RTC Aboard Boat Coaching in their training room at Universal Marina, Crableck Lane, Sarisbury Green SO31 7ZN
