Own Boat

We actively encourage clients to enjoy tuition on their own boat if they already have one.   We appreciate the investment you have made, so be it a Rib, Sports boat, a 23 metre Fly Bridge Motor cruiser (or anything in between), our aim is to help you enjoy your boat by becoming more confident and safe.

Courses on your own boat offer an efficient way of including family and friends in all aspects of your boating. Whether you want to complete an RYA course or simply have a day to “brush” up on any particular aspects of handling your own boat. Wherever you are (the location does not matter as we can travel to you**), we can help you to build your confidence while learning more about your own vessel.

Mendez Marine offer the full range of practical RYA courses suitable for your ‘pride and joy’, plus the support courses to give you more confidence and enable you to keep you, your family, friends and boat safe.  We also offer bespoke training packages to help you familiarise yourself with your boat,  its electronic equipment and the local area.

We are available to help you move your boat, move it for you, or, if you fancy a day out without the pressure of planning your passage, berthing or anchoring, we can provide a Skipper and Crew for you.

All our instructors are individually vetted and their experience matched to your type of vessel.   They will be qualified to the highest level required for the relevant RYA scheme or job booked for.

Dates are flexible and only limited to Instructor availability.

  • The RYA Sea Survival course has a practical session in a local swimming pool where you learn survival techniques and how to launch your liferaft.
  • Our instructors can advise on the range of safety equipment that you should have on your vessel including flares, first aid kits, EPIRP’s

NB A day is up to 8 hours or the hours required to complete an RYA course.
Our training area is The Hamble River, Southampton Water and The Solent.  Travel costs maybe incurred for training outside our local area i.e. Portsmouth, Chichester, Lymington and beyond.  Travel is charged from Swanwick if applicable but we will try to match instructors who live closest to your Marina.  Any overnight stays will be charged unless they stay on board your vessel.  It is appreciated if lunch and beverages are offered to the Instructor during the training

If you are unsure which course is the correct one for you then we suggest you call us to discuss your experience and we can then advise what course would best suit you. All of our RYA courses can be packaged with the various support courses to suit your individual requirements, contact us for more information.
