The RYA VHF Radio Classroom Course is for anyone who owns a fixed or hand-held marine VHF radio.
The Short Range Certificate is the qualification required, by law, if you operate a VHF radio fitted with Digital Selective Calling (DSC) on any British vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio.
A VHF radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. You will also learn about other safety equipment and its use i.e. EPIRB, PLB.
The VHF Operator’s Course is taught and examined using real radios with the transmission suppressed. The exam takes the form of a multiple-choice paper and practical radio scenarios.
