Half a day (4 hours) £450.  Full day (6 – 8 hours) £900.  

If two people book the same date then the course will run over the whole day.

Mendez Marine are a dedicated power and motor specialist school, committed to helping improve boating skills for people of all levels. Whether you are a first season boater keen to learn new techniques, expand your horizons or an experienced boater seeking further RYA qualifications, Mendez Marine can help you develop your skills.

Enjoy less stressful days on the water by gaining or improving and refining your close quarter boat handling skills.

We are confident that our instructors can help you learn the skills and techniques that will improve your confidence, ultimately leading you to explore further afield.

For the more experienced boater looking to gain an RYA Yachtmaster certificate or a RYA Yachtmaster Cruising Instructor certificate, you may benefit from booking a day or two’s Practical Boat handling prior to your course. The RYA Yachtmaster prep course and the RYA Cruising instructor course are not intended to be an instructional courses in boat handling, rather they are intended to be a course of fine tuning your existing skills required to pass either qualification.

Pre-course experience At least 2 days practical experience on a motor cruiser or an RYA Helmsman Certificate
Assumed knowledge Basic navigation and bouyage  
Maximum attendance 2 people
Minimum age 18 years (16 to 18 on request)
Course content These courses are tailored to the needs of the individual and what it is that they feel they need help with. Your instructor will discuss where they think your skill level is and what can be done to help you build both your skill level and confidence.  Can include ferry gliding (using tides), turning in confined spaces, berthing in different locations.  Preparation for Yachtmaster Exams: Practical use of Radar, blind nav, night passage.  
Ability after the course Have built on your existing boat handling skills and gained confidence in your boat handling ability.  Feel confident to move onto the RYA Yachtmaster exam prep courses.

Support courses: VHF , RYA First Aid, RYA Sea Survival, RYA Radar or Practical use of Radar,
