For safeguarding purposes we do not to mix 8 – 16 year old with unknown adults. Therefore courses for 16 year old’s and under are organised on a 1:1 or family / friend basis as a bespoke or group price. Please call to discuss dates.
How can I take this course?
For the RYA Powerboat Level 1 course we train in our 5.5m Ribcraft rib ‘Kake’. Classroom work will be undertaken at the Mendez Marine office.

Course content | Preparation: launching and recovery, safety equipment, pre-start checks, personal buoyancy. Boat handling and manoeuvres: starting and stopping, use of kill cord, steering controls, securing to a buoy, leaving and coming alongside, being towed. Theory and background: IRPCS, ropework, awareness of other water users. |

The certificate for 8-11 year olds will be endorsed as follows: “The holder should only use a powered craft under the supervision of a responsible adult on board the craft.” The certificate for 12 – 16 year olds will be endorsed as follows: “The holder should only use a powered craft under the supervision of a responsible adult.”
