New Classroom

We are now conducting all of our RYA Theory courses and non-RYA interest courses at our new classroom facility in ‘Boatfolk’, Deacons Marina, Swanwick. Only a short walk from our office and Powerboat Centre within Hamble River Boat Yard. Our focus has been on creating the best learning and teaching environment for our students and instructors. Mendez Marine have always wanted to keep the class sizes to a manageable number, ensuring a low student to instructor ratio. Even with the additional space we now enjoy it is still our intention to keep the class sizes small.

The classroom has a dedicated electronics suit with a range of chart plotters available to assist in teaching people how to set up and use their own electronic systems. The suit also contains our ECDIS navigation and RADAR simulator. We are currently offering a NEW 2 day RADAR course incorporating the RYA, certificated, RADAR course with an additional day using the simulator to enact scenarios plotted during the theory sessions. Our first scheduled course is already filling up and we are starting to take expressions of interest for the second.

We will soon be publishing dates for our new Seamanship course. This 1 day course is specifically aimed at teaching knots, splicing, whipping and the properties of both man-made and natural fibre ropes. Everything for this course is provided, and you get to take away a little memento of your day. This course is suitable for boaters of any discipline.
