As of the 4th of July 2020 we have been able to recommence many aspects of our training. Please be assured that the safety of our students and instructors is very important to us. We have implemented a range of protocols intended to make our return to training as safe as possible for all involved. Having read all the governments guidances regarding returning to work during the Covid-19 pandemic and having taken on board advice from the RYA, we are confident that we can operate within the new Government restrictions and continue to deliver the high standards of training that Mendez Marine can be rightly proud of.
These protocols include:
Updated all of our Risk Assessments
Introduced health declaration record keeping
Reduced student numbers per course
Stringent cleaning routines for offices, classrooms, boats and equipment
Strict social distancing policy – 2m if possible or 1m+
Protective screens in office and classroom areas
Implementation of PPE policies
Reduced face to face instruction
Reduced time in enclosed areas
Changes to our instructional methods
Due to the social distancing restrictions still in place we are still not permitted to provide training to mixed groups of more than three students. On some courses we have reduced the number of students to observe this restriction. We are hoping that the easing of this restriction will follow in due course and we will then adjust our policies and protocols to work within any new guidances and any mitigations required to ensure a safe working environment.
Please bear with us whilst we adjust to these new practices and policies.
Some of the changes we have had to make in order to resume training in line with the latest Government guidances will require some getting used to. In some respects our new training methods may seem rather impersonal… Our team will be working hard to create new methods of delivering the various course syllabi within the current restrictions and mitigations.
All of our practical courses involve a mixture of theory and practical sessions. You may find that you are asked to do some pre-course reading, some online assessments and even homework during the course in order to cover all elements required by the RYA. By doing this we will be able to run the practical aspects whilst observing social distancing protocols, which will require more time than normal.
We can assure you that our team will work tirelessly to ensure you enjoy a full and rewarding course.
