Tim started out on the water at 3 years old being taught to drive his grandfathers’s tender to the family boat. Since then, his magnetism towards the water has grown into his passion and vocation that he loves to share with others.
In 2002, he qualified as RYA Powerboat Instructor (alongside his Beach Lifeguard qualification) and quickly became the Training Coxswain in Poole Bay for the Inflatable Rescue Boats and RWC’s (Rescue Watercraft – Jet Skis). His role was to train cox’s and crews from scratch and maintain their skills throughout the season. During his 4 years with the RNLI he became a National level trainer/ assessor for Surf Life Saving GB and loves to be out in big waves!
Tim believes that ‘Confidence is king!’ so it’s not about ‘how much you know’, it’s about ‘what you do know, you do well and safely’; “when you take people out on boats, the first thing they need to feel is safe, the second thing they need to feel is confident in your ability, I focus on developing this so everyone enjoys themselves”.Â
He likes to inspire his training Helms to feel happy with themselves, and feel fully engaged in the courses so focuses on a calm, easy to understand, relaxed and fun style that means that potential is maximised and happiness in maintained throughout.
Tim teaches RYA: Powerboat, Advanced Powerboat, Personal Watercraft, First Aid and Rough Water Handling for Mendez Marine and is a commercially endorsed Charter Skipper.
