Covid-19 Update Information

All Training has been suspend.

In light of the lockdown imposed by the government earlier this week we have postponed all scheduled practical and classroom courses up to the 17th April when we will review in light of any additional advice from the Government.  The safety of our students and instructors is paramount so we have no choice but to adhere to the instructions from our Prime Minister.

As soon as we can commence training we will contact students to re-schedule courses.  Priority will be given to those students whose courses have been postponed to ensure that their preferred dates can be met.

We will be working hard in the meantime to make sure that we can resume a normal service with as little disruption as possible.

Continuation Training

In these ever-changing times we have given a lot of thought to how we plan to work with you to continue to offer and deliver training.

This period of isolation may be an ideal time to update your theory knowledge online.  We have discounted the online RYA Day Skipper and RYA Yachtmaster theory courses so please have a look at our web site to take advantage of these greatly reduced courses.  There is a 5% discount code available on request for the  RYA Essential Navigation, PPR  and SRC/VHF courses.

Existing bookings

If you already have a booking, our standard terms and conditions apply. However:

  • If it is bespoke training, a family group booking or Own Boat Training we can agree to postpone the training course to a new date as long as it is before 31 December 2020.
  • Mendez Marine reserve the right to postpone the whole course if more than 50% of the students are unable to attend for the reasons in the next bullet. Students affected will have first refusal on any new dates scheduled.
  • In the event of the Training Centre closing due to government requiring an area ‘lock- down’ or temporarily closure, we will reschedule the courses and the attendees, or their representative will be able to come on any available scheduled course up to December 2020.

Our standard cancellation policy applies to bookings before 23rd March 2020 and to courses after the 16th June 2020.

Cancellation Policy within our Terms and Conditions for new bookings made from 23rd March 2020 for courses starting before the 16th June 2020 or within the period of uncertainty.

  • A non-refundable, 25% deposit will be taken to confirm place on the course date you have selected.  Balance will be requested 7 days before course start date.
  • You can amend the start date of your course for the following reasons:
    • Your Government’s Foreign Office advises against ‘all‘ or ‘all but essential travel’.
    • There is a border closure or localised lockdown, which prevents you from leaving.
    • Your flight stops in an affected area that is deemed unsafe and is cancelled.
    • You, or a member of your party, contract a confirmed case of Coronavirus.
    • You are instructed to self-isolate or put into isolation.
  • The amended course date must be before 31 December 2020 for you or your representative.
  • If you need to cancel your course after the final balance is paid only 50% of the fee will be refunded or transferred to another course if your cancellation dips numbers below breakeven point.
  • If you wish to cancel your booking during this period of uncertainty, and it is before your balance is due, we will keep your deposit for use against your future booking.
  • Mendez Marine reserve the right to postpone a course if more than 50% of students are unable to attend and a new date will be offered.
  • We hope this gives you the confidence to continue to book with Mendez Marine over the coming months.
  • We will, continue to monitor developments and update our policies if necessary. If self-isolation or government lockdowns looks likely to continue after the 16th June, we will review once again.
